Mr. Jiang is a Senior Partner at Jurisino Law Group, based in Beijing. He is admitted to All Provinces (excluding Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao)/China, New York/USA, and Ontario/Canada. Mr. Jiang obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from Peking University in 1986, and a Master of Jurisprudence degree from Peking University in 1989. He further obtained a Master of Laws degree from Queen’s University in 1994, and a Juris Doctor degree from York University in 2000. Mr. Jiang received further professional trainings in the relevant Bars.
Mr. Jiang was a professor of law at Peking University, and taught at a number of continuing legal education programs for judges, public prosecutors, lawyers, politicians and government officials. He was involved in the initial research on and drafting of a number of crucial PRC laws including the Judicial Review
Act and the State Compensation Act.
He also worked for several governmental agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency. Mr. Jiang started his legal career in 1987 and has worked at multiple law firms both in China and in North America, with Philips, Whirlpool, Merck Serono, Lonza, Fraser & Neave, Toyota, Samsung and other multinationals on his client list. Currently he is focusing on foreign direct investments, cross-border mergers & acquisitions, international business transactions, international trade, customs, immigration, international litigation, international arbitration and other cross-border matters. Mr. Jiang is also very experienced in corporate
governance, antitrust/competition, capital markets, project financing, information technology, intellectual property and administrative law proceedings.
Mr. Jiang has assisted many multinational and SME companies in setting up and operating their joint ventures and wholly owned subsidiaries in China and outside China. He routinely advises clients in inbound and outbound cross-border mergers & acquisitions and other cross-border transactions, and is very experienced in coordinating international legal teams for cross-border matters. He also has expertise in some special cross-border matters such as offshore restructuring, Biography of Eric J. Jiang 10/2014 2 VIE arrangements and listing on oversea stock exchanges. Mr. Jiang has represented numerous companies in antidumping, countervailing and other trade remedy cases, including Household Appliances, Wooden Bedroom Furniture, Warmwater Shrimp, Leather Footwear, Color Picture Tubes, DVD-R, Laminate Flooring, Bicycles and Solar Panels, and is particularly versed at Chinese, US, EU, Canadian, Australian, Indian and South African trade remedy laws, NAFTA dispute settlement process, and WTO dispute settlement process.
He was an expert consultant to the PRC Ministry of Commerce on WTO trade remedy rules negotiation and frequently speaks at international trade law seminars held by the MOFCOM.
Mr. Jiang has authored or co-authored a number of English and Chinese publications, including A Practical Guide on Corporate Governance in China, Administrative Law and Judicial Review, Studies on Administrative Law, Judicial Review in China, Customs Law, An Exploratory Study of Administrative
Rulemaking in China, “A Critical Review of Judicial Power to Amend Administrative Decisions”, “Towards A Truly Globalized Competition Initiative”, and “Procedural Distinctiveness of US and Canadian Antidumping Law and Strategies for Chinese Respondents”.
Mr. Jiang is a frequent speaker at seminars, conferences and other meetings held by professional organizations including IBA, IPBA and LawAsia. He is also a visiting lecturer on corporate governance for the International MBA Programme at Hsinghua University.
Mr. Jiang has been ranked by Chambers Global and the Legal Media Group Guides to the World’s Leading Lawyers as a leading practitioner in international
trade law in Canada and China. He is also well known for his work in such areas as FDI, Corporate Governance, M&A and IP. His experience has extended to certain new areas of practice including competition litigation and carbon trading/CDM.
