Ying Nie is Vice President of the China Law Society’s Aviation Law Research Centre, Adjunct Professor of the Civil Aviation University of China, Visiting Professor at the Civil Aviation Management Institute of China, Adjunct Professor at the China University of Political Science and Law, Arbitrator at the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Arbitrator at the Shanghai Arbitration Commission, Adjunct Attorney at Beijing JunTai Law Firm. He has twenty years’ experience in aviation law research and management and has drafted various pieces of legislation regarding aviation law and policies and managed about 400 cases thus far.
Areas of research and experience:
- In aviation law: twenty years’ experience in aviation law research and management and has drafted various pieces of legislation regarding aviation law and policies and managed about 400 cases thus far.
- In tort law: led the Air China investigative contingent in the 2002 Busan aviation disaster, conducted an eight-month negotiation with the families and representatives of the deceased, fully implemented the Chinese compensation scheme, partially implemented the South Korean compensation scheme, settled 37 survivors.
- In international dispute resolution: organised and coordinated Air China’s responses to the US Department of Justice’s allegations of anticompetitive behaviour regarding freight pricing, EU’s allegations regarding its aviation-related carbon emissions trading.
- In state-owned assets law: participated in over 50 aspects of Air China’s state-owned assets, e.g. reform, restructure, transfer and merger.
- In labor law: participated and handled cases involving job-hopping airline pilots, involved in the restructuring of work division amongst employees of state-owned enterprises.
- In dispute resolution arbitration: participated in over 40 arbitration cases on various commissions, organised more than 20 international dispute and case processes.
