Xiao Yong’s practice is focused on cross-border outbound and inbound investment, international mergers and acquisitions and energy and infrastructure projects. In recent years, Xiao Yong has advised a number of China’s largest state-owned companies on their overseas investments in the energy and natural resources sectors around the world.

Xiao Yong is the Head of Vinson & Elkins’ China Practice. Prior to joining the firm, Xiao Yong spent 10 years working in the Department of Treaties and Laws of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the People’s Republic of China (“MOFTEC,” now Ministry of Commerce). He splits his time between Beijing and Hong Kong.
