Xu Jiali, currently a professor, Ph.D. supervisor of Intellectual Property law and Head of the Intellectual Property Law Research Centre at the China University of Political Science, is a top-rated lawyer, a Founding Partner of LongAn Law Firm, the first Chinese national to hold a post-doctorate in IP law and the only practising lawyer in the country who is simultaneously a Ph.D. supervisor. Not only did Prof. Xu obtain his LLB from Peking University and his LLM, Ph.D. and post-doctorate from the China University of Political Science, he is also a New York University Senior Visiting Fellow. Prof. Xu previously served in the Supreme Court of China, the National Legal Aid Bureau and the Beijing Legal Aid Bureau. Prof. Xu formerly served at the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and in leadership positions at the National Lawyers Association and the Beijing Lawyers Association. He is an expert at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s Overseas Corporate Intellectual Property Rights Research Centre,  Secretary General at the China Law Society’s IP Law Research Centre, a member of the National Emergency IP Professional Development Committee, Visiting Fellow at the Peking University International IP Law Research Centre and Adjunct Professor at the Renmin University of China and the Duke University School of Law, among other Chinese and foreign universities.

Prof. Xu’s work has been recognised by various organisations and government agencies. He is the recipient of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice’s “Beijing’s Top Ten Lawyers” and “People’s Lawyer”, the Chinese Ministry of Justice’s “Order of Service, Second Class”, the National Lawyers Association’s “Outstanding Lawyer” and many other accolades.

For many years now, Prof. Xu has dedicated himself to the research of IP law. His extensive list of publications is indicative of a rich legal experience and his many years in legal practice, teaching and research of the law and legal theory. Prof. Xu has authored over 20 books such as the The Protection of the Internet and e-Commerce by IP Law and The Lawyers Practical Guide to IP Law  and more than 100 articles in many journals, which include The Journal of Chinese Legal Studies, Intellectual Property and The Chinese Lawyer
