Mr Yu Lemin (YLM) commenced his business and legal career with Sinochem Corporation in 1989, after graduating with a law degree from University of International Business & Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China. Sinochem is one of the Fortune 500 companies and engaged in trading and production of crude oil, petroleum products, fertilizers, and other chemical products on a global scale with annual revenue of $80 billion in 2014.
With over 26 years of experience in international business and legal arena, YLM was the founder of Sinochem corporate legal department.
Between 1991 and 1995, YLM was seconded by Sinochem to one of its overseas subsidiaries, US Agri-Chemicals Corporation in Florida, USA, which was acquired by Sinochem in 1989. His close involvement in the daily operations of USAC has provided him with a unique exposure and access to a first hand western-styled management experience and decision making process. This rare experience has gained YLM field knowledge in the areas of accounting, finance, production management as well as legal.
YLM returned to Sinochem headquarter in Beijing in 1995 and soon named a leader of a crisis management team responsible for a dozen of multi-million dollar cross-border lawsuits of various natures. That assignment over a three-year period has provided him with a sufficient scope to acquire valuable experience in terms of cross border litigation, particularly in the USA and UK, as well as an in-depth knowledge and practical feel on corporate risk management and internal control.
Since 2001, YLM has worked on a series of upstream and downstream petroleum acquisitions. These deal experiences has acquainted YLM well with cross-border acquisitions and legal practices in oil and gas sector concerning concessions, production sharing contract, joint operating agreement, farm-out agreement, natural gas sales agreement, joint ventures, etc.
YLM was appointed as director of the corporate legal department in early 1997. Since 1998, YLM has initiated and implemented a series of corporate legal management policies in the areas such as delegation of corporate power, contract review procedure, litigation management and legal service procurement management.
